Canada, Ireland Launch New Framework to Boost Trade, Security Cooperation

(MENAFN) Canada and Ireland have agreed to deepen cooperation across trade, investment, security, and technology following talks held on Saturday between Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney and Irish Prime Minister Micheál Martin in Dublin.

In a joint statement, the two leaders said the new framework is intended to “deepen bilateral cooperation, strengthen economic resilience, enhance long-term competitiveness, and advance shared strategic interests.”

The agreement was announced ahead of Ireland assuming the presidency of the Council of the European Union on July 1, a role expected to shape EU-level policy priorities over the coming period.

Both sides committed to expanding trade and investment ties, reinforcing collaboration on economic security and supply chain stability, and supporting the implementation of the Canada–EU Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement.
