Trump Amplifies Pakistani PM's Post Saying US-Iran Deal Imminent

(MENAFN) US President Donald Trump threw his social media weight behind Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif's optimistic assessment of US-Iran negotiations Saturday, reposting the premier's remarks on his TruthSocial platform.

Trump shared a message originally posted by Sharif on X, the US-based social media platform, in which the Pakistani leader declared that talks had entered their final stage and signaled confidence in an imminent breakthrough.

"We are closer to a peace deal than ever before," Sharif wrote.

Sharif said Pakistan — which brokered a ceasefire in the US-Israeli war on Iran in early April — is now preparing for an electronic signing of the agreement immediately upon its finalization, with technical-level discussions on implementation and related matters expected to follow next week.

The Pakistani premier also extended his appreciation to both Washington and Tehran for sustaining their engagement throughout the negotiating process.

Projecting confidence in the outcome, Sharif framed the anticipated accord as a watershed moment for the region. "We are confident that this historic peace deal will form a strong foundation for lasting peace," he said.
