Smotrich Calls for Retaliation Against Beirut Buildings Over Rocket Fire

(MENAFN) Israeli Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich has renewed his call for the destruction of buildings in Beirut’s Dahiyeh district in response to rocket fire from Lebanon, according to a post he made on the US social media platform X on Saturday.

Smotrich linked his remarks to ongoing US–Iran diplomatic developments, arguing that Hezbollah should not be allowed to take advantage of the situation to target northern Israel.

He said that for every rocket or drone launched at Israel, ten buildings in Dahiyeh—widely considered a Hezbollah stronghold in southern Beirut—should be destroyed, adding that such measures should be carried out “immediately tonight.”

Meanwhile, the Israeli military reported that air raid sirens were activated in several communities in northern Israel following rocket fire originating from Lebanon.

The army said the rockets were aimed at Israeli forces operating in what it described as occupied areas in southern Lebanon. It added that no injuries were reported in the incident.
