Flotilla Activists Protest G7 Summit Over Gaza Stance
The flotilla assembled offshore opposite Evian, where leaders of the Group of Seven nations were meeting over the weekend.
Organizers from Global Sumud Switzerland said the action was intended to express opposition to Switzerland’s stance on Gaza as well as its involvement in security arrangements linked to the summit.
The protest was described by participants as peaceful and non-violent.
Several of those involved had previously joined maritime missions attempting to reach Gaza, organizers said.
Swiss Green Party lawmaker Leonore Porchet, who took part in the flotilla, said: "The countries of the G7 and Switzerland are complicit in the genocide taking place in Gaza."
Former Geneva mayor Remy Pagani, who was previously detained during a Gaza-bound flotilla mission, also joined the demonstration.
