Medvedev Trolls U.S. "Don't Play Games" Warning to Russia
Dmitry Medvedev, Deputy Chair of Russia's Security Council, posted a stark visual message on X, the US-based social platform, featuring Moscow's Cathedral of Christ the Saviour rendered in black and white. Crimson lettering sprawled across the image declared: "DON'T PLAY GAMES WITH RUSSIA."
"Happy Orthodox Christmas, Russian world!" Medvedev wrote alongside the provocative graphic.
The post directly mimicked a design published by the US State Department's Russian-language social media account. That American graphic displayed a monochrome photograph of President Donald Trump and Secretary of State Marco Rubio monitoring military activities in Venezuela, emblazoned with the warning: "DON'T PLAY GAMES WITH PRESIDENT TRUMP."
The State Department characterized Trump as a "man of action," concluding with: "Didn't you know? Now you know."
Medvedev's countermessage replicated the identical typeface, color palette, and linguistic framework deployed by Washington, marking a symbolic escalation in rhetoric following developments in Caracas.
The online confrontation emerged days after US military forces executed an operation in Venezuela's capital on January 3. Intelligence reports documented detonations and aerial maneuvers over Caracas before American personnel apprehended Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro alongside his spouse.
US Attorney General Pam Bondi unveiled charges against Maduro for "narco-terrorism" and narcotics trafficking in the operation's aftermath.
Venezuelan authorities denounced the incursion as a sovereignty violation, while Washington justified the mission as essential law enforcement intervention.
